“We love films because they makes us feel something. They speak to our desires, which are never small. They allow us to escape and to dream and to gaze into the eyes that are impossibly beautiful and huge. They fill us with longing. But also. they tell us to remember; they remind us of life. Remember, they say, how much it hurts to have your heart broken.” ― Nina LaCour, “Everything Leads to You”
What are you doing March 15-19? Meet me at the Fargo Film Festival. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — this is seriously one of the best events in town.
It brings movie fans and filmmakers from all over the world together for five days of movies, panel discussions, working lunches and parties and turns them loose in downtown Fargo. And somehow, the whole experience perfectly captures the strange, charming, slightly funky energy of the neighborhood while cultivating its own unique festival atmosphere.
If you’re a movie fan in general, you’ll love discovering new films, everything from shorts to gorgeous animation to full length features.
I’ll be going on Friday evening for sure, because I love the 2-minute movies and a bunch of my friends and I go every year. And I’m really interested in seeing “Welcome to Leith” since this story of how tiny North Dakota town stood up to a white supremacist is supposed to be incredibly good (it was even up for the Documentary Grand Jury Prize at Sundance last year) and I’d be intrigued even if the story didn’t take place practically in my own backyard.
So come join us! And enter to win a pair of evening passes for any night of the festival. They’ll get you in to the pre-show party (highly recommended) and that evening’s movies.
To enter to win, just comment below this post and/or like, share, comment or Re-Tweet on social media. Each comment or action on social media counts as an entry and you can enter as often as you like. Just make sure I’m tagged so I can count your entries.
This contest is open until Monday, March 9th at noon so the winner will have time to make travel arrangements. (Although if I were you, I’d just plan to whether you win or not — it’s totally worth it.) The winner will be announced on Facebook and Twitter on Monday afternoon, so keep an eye out for the announcement.
Good luck! And spread the word!
