Wearable Art at TAG

If you haven’t been downtown lately, you might have missed Fargo’s newest pop-up store.

TAG founders Joe Burgum and Jeff Knight have dipped deep into the local talent pool, working with local artists and designers to create unique — and often wryly funny — T-shirts, accessories and gifts.

The store has a distinctly regional vibe and a whole lot of Midwestern pride.

The pair drew inspiration — and also some merchandise — from the cheeky screen printed goodness that is Raygun, similar shop in Des Moines, Iowa.

Burgum, who won national recognition and an appearance on the cover of Parade magazine for his work on the Fill the Dome project while still in high school, felt that the downtown scene in Fargo was similar enough to Des Moines for a pop-up site to work.

The store will be open until December 23rd, 2012 with a full website coming soon.

Until then, TAG is interacting with customers both in store and on their Facebook Page.

They’re currently holding a Design Contest on the page. The public will vote on a new T-Shirt design that will be produced and announced at an in-store party starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 13th.

Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. tonight, so get your votes in soon!

And don’t forget to stop out if you want to grab any of the limited edition shirts by local artists Jessica Wachter, Punchgut, Modern Man, Raul Gomez and designer/TAG Founder Jeff Knight.

They only made 40 of each design, so when they’re gone, they’re gone!
