Pedicure Day

OPI pink polishes

Pedicures are so relaxing.

Spring hasn’t really made an appearance in Fargo yet — this unseasonable cold is getting old — but that didn’t stop Liz and I from doing a little midweek pampering.

We usually go to the The Salon Professional Academy in Fargo, since it’s close to my house and to her work.

The Salon Professional Academy is a national training school with locations all over the country. To find a location near you, click here.

All services are performed by students who are closely supervised by licensed supervisors.

Service can occasionally be uneven (especially if you have a brand new student) but we’ve found the learning curve is generally steepest at the front desk, where they’re still learning the payment system.

A super shiny pedicure in Magenta in the pre touch-up phase. I love pedicures, but I’m capable of destroying them even before I leave the chair. It’s just one of my many gifts.

The pedicure experience is comparable to what you can expect at any salon in town and the prices are very reasonable — pedicures with no add ons are just $22.

It’s an even better deal if you get a Club Card.

Sorry the card is so dirty — it’s been floating around in my purse for awhile!

The Club Card is valid for a year and entitles you to $10 off a hair, nail or facial service and 10% off all retail items in the store.

And you can also score free add ons! Book $25 in services and get a free parafin, brow wax or lip treatment. Or get a free haircut, manicure or make-up application when you book $40 in services.

If you walk in off the street and request a Club Card, the cost is $10.

But if you’ve booked a hair, nail or facial service, you can ask for one and they’ll just punch out the discount on whatever service you’re receiving, which gets you the card for no money down.

The ladies at the front desk tell me that the Club Card is valid for the Fargo location only. If you’re booking at another location, I would ask what loyalty programs they have, since most locations have one, but details can vary.
