Score Albino Buffalo Sticker Art

“Sticker art is important because it provides an accessibility to art that is more approachable than some other means of art sales,” says Albino Buffalo creator and graphic artist Jeff Knight. “The public can experience the visual work of regional artists for fifty cents a pull.”

Albino Buffalo just released its fourth series, which features the work of Chase Body, Alison Bueksler, Shane Maland, Emma Thofson, Chelsea Thorson, and Kensie Wallner. There are (spoiler alert) also stickers by recently announced mystery artist, Jordan Nelson, who screenprinted some exceptionally cool stuff on wood paper with adhesive backing. This idea challenges the very idea of what a sticker is, which has definitely gotten people talking.

I love that about stickers — they’re an instant conversation starter. And the rush of sticking a couple quarters into a machine and seeing what you get never really gets old.

You can score a totally unique sticker at Unglued in Fargo and 218 Home + Gift in Bemidji for 50 cents a pop. The stickers are usually gone in a month or less, so if you want one, get on it. They never last long and each series seems to sell out more quickly than the last. Or you can enter here to win the entire collection!

One lucky grand prize winner will score a sweet Albino Buffalo T-shirt and the complete set of Series Four stickers.. As an added bonus, two runners up will each get a complete set of stickers as well. Details on how to win are at the bottom of this post.

If you’re in the Fargo-Moorhead metro, be sure to check out “Peel and Stick” at The Rourke Art Museum in Moorhead. This exhibit in the second floor gallery features paintings, prints, sculptures and mixed media creations from several Albino Buffalo artists in the first four series. It runs now through February 28.

I went to the opening last Sunday and it was a great opportunity to see a ton of my favorite artists all in the same room. And, since I wasn’t familiar with a some of the artists outside of their stickers, I got a chance to check out some new (to me, anyway) artists as well.

It turns out that’s pretty much exactly what Jeff hoped would happen. While the sticker machines are an affordable way to bring art to the masses, the museum show introduces museum patrons to the sticker artists, showcases a variety of creative minds in one space and shows sticker fans what artists can create when they’re not limited to a particular creative format.

“The show at the Rourke was something I always wanted to do with this project so that artists have a chance to show their actual work in a collective space,” says Jeff. “The hope is that fans of the stickers or a particular artist will come to the Rourke and support the artists by purchasing a piece of their artwork.”
